A surprisingly well-accomplished psychological exploration of religious belief, and what might happen if it turned out that the 'son of god' was still buried in a tomb and not risen after all. How would the world's major religions react to this? How would it affect the personal beliefs of deeply religious people? How might it affect the perilous politics of the Middle East? We expected something along the lines of the Da Vinci Code, but in fact The Body is much more thoughtful. It does have an action/adventure angle, and there's several strands of political conspiracy. But the key is the relationship between the not-particularly religious (female) archaeologist, and the devout Vatican investigator. The suspense builds with every new piece of analysis of a 2000-year-old corpse, with global conflicts played out in a personal setting. Very effective. Gets a wee bit daft with the all-action ending, but makes up for it with a sneaky, effective epilogue. Not a big budget billboard flick, but better than expected. 7/10
