Doch seine Kontrahentin lässt sich nicht so leicht hinters Licht führen...
Ein turbulenter Kampf der Geschlechter mit vielen Überraschungen und Dialogwitz, in der die Dinge nie so sind, wie sie scheinen.

In the end it all depends on what you expect a movie to be. If you want a (somewhat) serious rom-com with a believable enough story and characters that might (perhaps maybe) really exist with utterly romantic moments... then this is NOT the film for you. If you, however, love Austin Powers and bright colours, if you find caricatures funny and can take twists and turns, then this might be the film for you.
As for me, it's one of my favorite films of all time. When I'm under the weather or a little sad I put it on. It's so far away from reality and yet so funny, colourfull and witty, that it cheers me up every time I put it on. I love the sets and clothing! For me it's a 5 star. The office scene with Ewan talking about his socks staying up has me in stitches every single time!
I was a little dubious about the Renee Zellweger and Ewan MacGregor pairing, but i needn't have worried. The wonderful chemistry between them instantly showed on screen, with Renee's pouty smiles and intelligence (go, girl! She has more brains than the whole publishing board put together!) and Ewan's sultry 'man-about-town' persona, it just sizzled! Renee again shows us she isn't just a pretty face, whilst Ewan amazes us again with his ability to dazzle in roles you would not expect to see him in. Another great star is David Price (from Frasier!) as the hopeless-in-love publishing executive and Catch's (Ewan's)best friend. He grumbles and swoons his way through some of the funniest lines in the movie.
The extras on the DVD are cool too! A hilarious blooper reel and a video of the trademark song 'Here's to love', sung by Ewan and Renee, are the real gems. Once again they both show off their great singing talent in true Frank and Nancy style with hilarious words and a great dance routine.
It may not take alot of brain power, but is sure, (almost!) clean fun, and great for curling up in front of the fire with.
Only criticism I have is when it arrived the disk was not in the case right, now I no it was brought used and the post may have been the reason it had come out but surly there is a way you can stick the dvd into the case without doing any damage to the disk its self just so when it arrives its not fallen out.
I have to confess that I did not expect much from it initially, as it did not get great media coverage during the time of it's release. Furthermore, I am not a fan of either Ewan or Rene. Nonetheless, they both charmed me - Ewan in particular...
I would also like to credit the unsung heroes: the film has extremely strong supporting roles, as well as a killer wardrobe; Dior homme suits on McGreggor are a match made in fashion heaven.
If you are looking for a thorough cheering up over and over and over, (and some) this is the film for you.
