Este libro es OBLIGATORIO si quieres grabar a fuego la gramática del inglés en tu cabeza. Fue el libro que usé en Bachillerato para aprenderlo y que ahora le he comprado a mi mujer para que refuerce su inglés.

La estructura de LECCIÓN, EJERCICIO, PISTAS Y SOLUCIONES es magnífica.

Al final, el inglés al hablarlo y leerlo se "rompe" como cualquier idioma. Pero tener la gramática bien integrada en tu conocimiento, hace que seas capaz de "romperlo".

Mi mujer está sorprendida de lo completo que es y de cuántas reglas y consejos desconocía sobre la gramática más básica que ahora le parecen de perogrullo.

Si quieres aprender inglés de verdad, y tu presupuesto no es muy alto, déjate de cursos e historias. Compra este libro y machácalo. Una vez bien macahado, busca alguien con quien poder practicar, hoy en día tienes apps como Cambly que pueden cubrir perfectamente esa hora o par de horas semanales sólo de práctica de conversación.

No hay métodos mágicos para aprender idiomas, pero si hubiera alguno para aprender inglés, este libro es tu Manual de Hechizos.

I used the old edition of this book as an English teacher for years. It has an explanation of the grammar on the left and exercises for the student to fill in on the right, with answers at the back.
It is one of the old trusty books you can always keep in your teaching bag for emergency use, as it covered all grammatical issues and explained everything so clearly. I frequently advised students to buy it, either to study with me or, more often, for independent study, as it works absolutely great for students to teach themselves grammar in a systematic way while focusing on speaking skills in lessons.
This new edition has been completely ruined by someone who clearly has literally no experience either as a teacher or as a student of English as a foreign language.
It is printed on that shiny paper that weighs half a ton and that you cannot write on properly in pencil. When you try to rub something out it turns into a complete mess. Despite being a larger book than the old one, the pages feel far more cramped and there is less space to squeeze the answers in than the old one had.
The grammar explanations are somehow less clear than they were in the old edition, even though I cannot work out what they have changed, other than to add in random smears of light blue here and there so that it isn't just a black and white book. Adding colour printing makes it more expensive, for no useful reason at all.
if you can find an old edition of this book, jump at it, that one got 5 stars.

Il libro, come al solito è arrivato puntuale e ben imballato, nessun danno. Ho voluto caricare delle foto per dimostrare che alcune recensioni bisogna farle con un pò di obiettività: le pagine NON sono lucide, come qualcuno ha scritto. A me personalmente il metodo utilizzato piace ed è a mio parere quello che "impronta" di più; che molti studenti non siano abituati è un altro discorso. Le unità si sviluppano su due pagine: a sinistra la teoria, a destra la pratica. Lo consiglio e probabilmente acquisterò il testo Advanced.

I am from Spain and as a english book for me and for a lot of people it is the best. The blue one means intermediate level that in the most of the things it is where I am. According to many forums this books are highly recomended because they are very complete and you can find whatever kind of aditional information in the end of this book.

I'm right now learning english in an academy too and my teacher recommended to me this book's collection because it is the best way to learn english by your own from your house.

If you want the complete collection you must get:
-Essential Grammar in Use. Although my english is a bit better than this level, it is good to have got it to practise from zero.
-Advanced Grammar in Use. Amazing

It is always the same method and it works. First they explain you grammar and in the next page you have a lot of exercices to complete. To correct it just go in the end of this book and find the solution.

I am an EFL teacher with 25 years experience and was recently asked to to teach English to a young French student here in France. As I am currently on holiday and I didn't have any teaching materials with me I immediately ordered a used copy of English Grammar in Use by Raymond Murphy. I already have two other older editions at home in the UK. It is an excellent and very accessible study reference with answer key for both teachers and students. No self respecting English language teacher should be without a copy. With the exception of Practical English Usage by Michael Swann , English Grammar in Use is the definitive self study grammar book in my humble opinion. It arrived much quicker than I had anticipated. It was triple wrapped and in pristine condition. It looked like new. Congratulations and thank you Shine wood!!
