Lo compré mas por una cuestión sentimental ( la vi hace muchísimos años y la repuso Amazon Prime) y verla aquí no me lo pensé por ese precio.
Tiene una calidad muy buena para el tiempo que ha pasado y en mi tv 4k no desmerece ninguna de hoy en día mas modernas

Le voy a dar 4 estrellas porque ya la había visto y no se me hizo tan entretenida.... pero he de decir que me parece un clásico de la ciencia ficción, algo diferente, un tono oscuro, místico..... algo así. No estoy seguro si es la versión con censura de la parte gore, o sin censura.

La película es sobresaliente. Me parecen sobrecogedoras las imágenes y el ambiente generados durante la misma. Respecto del producto, la carátula es la misma que se anuncia. En su interior no incluye ningún planfeto (en el lugar donde se suele encontrar el plástico está troquelado con el símbolo del reciclaje). Embalaje perfecto y compacto de parte de Amazon.

Als Fan von Aliens, Das 5. Element und Arrival konnte ich an den vielen 5-Sterne-Bewertungen dieses Machwerks nicht einfach so vorbeigehen... hätte ich es mal besser getan. Dieser Film ist meines Erachtens nur zu einem da - möglichst viel Blut auf der Leinwand zu verteilen. Wer sich an ausgeweideten Körpern delektieren und sinnenleerte Schockmomente und eine unangebrachte, künstlich Spannung suggerierende "Geräuschkulisse" (von Filmmusik will ich gar nicht reden) über sich ergehen lassen möchte, der soll sich das mal antun. Ich für meinen Teil bereue den Kauf und kann nur jedem dringend davon abraten, der noch nicht völlig abgestumpft ist. Das Ding wandert jetzt gleich in die Mülltonne.

For the fans of this bewilderingly underrated masterpiece - rest assured, this is a fantastic effort. You will be happy.
The film looks pristine with clear, sharp, natural film detail and perfectly judged use of hdr. A vast improvement on the blu ray, which was perfectly adequate anyway given it's status, but someone over at paramount has finally given this the love it deserves.

For newcomers - jump in, it's a glorious mix of Alien, Hellraiser, The Shining, with a dash of Solaris. A pitch perfect blend of hard scifi, horror, great set pieces, well written characters and a compelling plot.
Hell of a cast too, all on top form giving it their all.

This film has aged like a fine wine and should be far better known than what it is.

Kurz zum Inhalt: 2047 bricht ein Raumschiff auf zu einer geheimen Rettungsmission. Erst auf dem Flug klärt der mitgereiste Wissenschaftler Dr. Weir die Besatzung über das Ziel auf: Es soll das von ihm erbaute Raumschiff "Event Horizon", das seit 2040 verschollen ist, gefunden werden. Tatsächlich wird die "Event Horizon" gefunden.
Eine Bergungsmannschaft geht an Bord und findet das Schiff scheinbar verlassen vor. Es stellt sich schnell heraus, dass alle Besatzungsmitglieder tot sind und anhand des wiederhergestellten Videologbuchs wird ersichtlich, das sich die Besatzungsmitglieder gegenseitig zerfleischt haben.

Im weiteren Verlauf erkennt die Bergungsmannschaft den Grund für diese Morde: Die "Event Horizon" war in der Lage ein künstliches schwarzes Loch zu erzeugen (dafür war sie auch von Dr. Weir konstruiert worden). Der Flug durch das schwarze Loch, so die Hypothese, soll das Schiff in ein Paralleluniversum transportiert haben.
Auf unerklärliche Weise mutierte dabei die "Event Horizon" in eine Art intelligentes, aber höchst bösartiges Wesen, das die teuflische Fähigkeit besitzt, die schlimmsten Ängste eines jeden Besatzungsmitglieds real werden zu lassen. Die von grauenhaften Visionen gequälte Besatzung der "Event Horizon" brachte sich bedingt durch einen grenzenlosen Paranoia Rausch gegenseitig um.
Nachdem dies der Bergungsmannschaft klar wurde und schon Tote in den eigenen Reihen zu beklagen sind, wollen sie wieder zu ihrem eigenen Schiff zurück und den Ort des Grauens verlassen. Doch ein Mitglied der Bergungsmannschaft hat ihr Schiff zerstört und die Mannschaft ist gezwungen, auf dem Horrorschiff "Event Horizon" zu verweilen und -an den Rand des Wahnsinns gebracht-um ihr Leben zu kämpfen.

Sicherlich hat der Film Logik Fehler und die Handlung mag etwas weit daher geholt zu sein, aber davon abgesehen bietet der Film Hochspannung pur. Gerade der Kampf der Besatzung mit/gegen ihre schlimmsten Ängste und Wahnvorstellungen, bei dem keiner mehr dem anderen traut, erzeugen eine unglaublich intensive, unheilschwangere Atmosphäre, die den Zuschauer bis zum Ende beschäftigt.
Zudem liefern Laurence Fishburne als Captain Miller und Sam Neill als Dr. Weir eine schauspielerische Glanzleistung ab.
Obwohl der Film geschnitten wurde, um die FSK 18 zu umgehen, gibt es dennoch etliche deftige Horrorszenen zu sehen.

Fazit: Trotz der angesprochenen Schwäche in Bezug auf die Handlung, bietet der Film ansonsten hochspannende Unterhaltung und zudem ein relativ überraschendes Ende.

is a 1997 science fiction horror film directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and written by Philip Eisner. It stars Laurence Fishburne, Sam Neill, Kathleen Quinlan and Joely Richardson. Set in 2047, it follows a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission, after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, spontaneously appears in orbit around Neptune. Searching the ship for signs of life, the rescue crew learns that the Event Horizon was a testbed for an experimental engine that opened a rift in the space-time continuum and left our universe entirely, allowing a malevolent entity to possess the ship.

The film had a troubled production history, with filming and editing rushed by Paramount when it became clear that Titanic would not meet its projected release date. The original 130-minute cut of the film was heavily edited by demand of the studio, to the consternation of director Paul W. S. Anderson.

Upon release, the film was a commercial and critical failure, grossing $42 million on a $60 million production budget. Even so, it began to sell well on home video; its initial DVD release sold so well that Paramount contacted Anderson shortly after its release to begin working on a restoration of the deleted footage. However, it turned out that the footage had either been lost or destroyed. In the years since the film has slowly built a cult following and is often referenced in other works of popular culture.

Lost footage
After the initial DVD release became a surprise hit, the studio and Anderson became interested in assembling a director's cut, but they quickly discovered that the excised footage had not been carefully stored and much of it had gone missing. The plan to assemble a director's cut was abandoned and instead a special-edition two-DVD set was released, featuring one deleted scene, two extended scenes, and a few shots of deleted material in the included making-of featurette. The footage is of "video" quality.

Known deleted scenes include a meeting scene between Weir and people in charge of the mission in which they discuss Event Horizon, some dialogue of which remained present in the theatrical trailer; more backstory for Cooper and Justin, including a stronger explanation for Justin entering the black hole; a deleted backstory of the relationship between Starck and Miller; additional scenes explaining what the gateway to hell/black hole is; Miller finding a tooth floating in Event Horizon; a longer version of the scene in which Peters hallucinates that her son's mangled legs are covered in maggots; a scene in which Weir hallucinates that Justin turns into his wife Claire; a bloodier version of Weir's wife Claire's suicide; a longer version of the scene where Miller finds D.J.'s dead body with his guts on the table; and a longer version of the "Visions From Hell" scene during Miller's final fight with Weir with more shots of Event Horizon crew being tortured.[better source needed]

The "bloody orgy" video was also longer. As Anderson was sometimes too busy filming other scenes, second-unit director Vadim Jean filmed some parts of this scene. Real-life amputees were used for special effects scenes in which Event Horizon crew members were mutilated, and pornographic film actors were hired to make the sex and rape scenes more realistic and graphic.

The film's final ending was a combination of two unused alternate endings that were filmed. One did not have a jump scare at the end when the last two survivors are found by another rescue crew and Starck hallucinates that she sees Weir, although there was a similar version of the scene included in this ending where she hears screams of Event Horizon crew and screams in fear before Cooper wakes her up. This was the original ending of the film included in the shooting script. The second ending had Miller fighting with the burned man from his visions at the core instead of with Weir, but this was changed due to the negative test screening.

In an Event Horizon Q&A in 2011, Anderson was asked when extra footage will be made available. He responded "never", explaining that much of it is gone forever. In a 2012 interview, he announced that producer Lloyd Levin had found a VHS tape with his original rough cut. Anderson said that after finishing Resident Evil: Retribution, he planned to watch it for the first time since assembling the film. In a January 2017 interview, Anderson reiterated a director's cut will never be released as the footage does not exist anymore. Asked about the VHS tape, he said neither he nor Levin, had watched it yet, as Levin moved to Spain; however, he was still excited about watching it at some point

A sci-fi horror classic. Dr Weir has been sent to the Lewis & Clark to investigate the disappearance and reappearance of the Event Horizon beyond Neptune. Things turn ugly once they board the ship an engineer Justin gets pulled into the gravity drive causing a wave that damages the Lewis & Clark. All crew have been ordered to board the Event Horizon. Dr Weir struggles to find answers as to where the ship has been and what happened. Meanwhile the individual crew members start to experience hallucinations relating to their personal lives. The ship seems to have a sinister energy that gets inside the minds of the crew. Things then turn to breaking point!
Event Horizon is a must watch! A science fiction movie with some disturbing sequences.
