Most of the film is about the life of intimidation and persecution Rainwood suffers in prison – until he is provoked into seeking retribution for the abuse he suffers. I found this movie unsatisfactory and unconvincing, though the grim realities of prison life are stark enough. First, his very sweet wife Kate (Laila Robins) doesn’t seem to have much idea about getting a decent lawyer to defend her husband. Secondly, I would be appalled if the police really did make so little effort to establish the true facts of a case against an upright citizen with no record of involvement with drugs. I certainly wouldn’t want to watch this again.
