A selection of some of the finest horror writers of today were invited by Matt Shaw to bring him their twisted tales for this anthology. A book put together with the sole purpose of reminding readers what the horror genre is really about. Each author was told they could write about any subject matter they wanted so long as it was set in a world of horror. The only rule they had: No Paranormal Romance. Vampires do not sparkle, werewolves do not date, Witches do not scour Tinder for Virgins and ghosts do not declare their undying love whilst tidying the apartment... This is horror...

Swimming up out of a murky swamp of darkness and depravity comes yet another entry in the world of Extremes, wallowing in the bloody excesses of those emerging prior.
Safety in numbers. A common belief that folks will be safer when they are part of a group, rather than left to fend for themselves alone. Less likely to suffer harm and danger when surrounded by so many others.
The groups here are about to discover it’s all an illusion. A misconception.
They’re going to be cast into situations and driven to Extremes in ways they could never have imagined, and being part of a larger group is ultimately meaningless.
The horrors about to be revealed, perpetrated upon them, and strewn with wanton brutality all around them, care little for any adage, or any notion that a bunch of souls are more likely to withstand the nightmares than any solitary figure.
After all, how will it make any difference when the horrors are going to be unleashed on every single one of them?
These are stories of the gruesome and the grisly, of monstrous souls and monstrous deeds.
As statistically correct as it may seem, everybody here going to Extremes as part of a collective is about to find it just isn’t the case.
There really is No Safety in Numbers.
Then it came again the following year.
Now, it comes to visit on a monthly basis.
Most of the time, Empyrium is a city like any other. But not tonight.
Stranded motorists, Ryan and Roman, dumped outside the city by an apprehensive soul with a deathly fear of entering the city limits and advising the men to likewise avoid the place, are just about to discover how unlike every other city this one is.
Full of wary, fearful denizens, plastered with alarming warning signs and graffiti, businesses closing up shop before the sun has even set, Empyrium may be the most unwelcoming place these two have ever encountered.
Now, they’re about to find out why.
Tonight, in a place no longer referred to by its given name, but instead by the moniker Ghoulhell, Ryan and Roman will discover that nightmares do come true.
Blood is going to flow, screams are going to ring out, death, depravity, torture and torment are going to rule the streets, and the shadows are going to disgorge an unimaginable horrorshow.
All those unfortunate enough not to find sanctuary before the sun goes down, are going to find out what the night brings.
Tonight, is Ghoul Night.
And she’s just about to make the worst decision of her entire life.
Rock musician Dwayne has just played another frustrating gig to a less than full house of folks who couldn’t care at all about live music. Now he’s driving out on the highway, looking to find a room for the night and catch some sleep.
Teenager Glenn is en route home after a school excursion. There’s been trouble with the bus all day, so this bunch of school kids and their teachers are travelling lonely roads late at night. There’s about to be even more trouble for the bus, and all its occupants.
The lives of these three individuals are going to collide in a way none of them could have ever imagined.
All three of them, miles from home, are going to find themselves stranded out in the hostile wilderness, where something very wrong is going on.
This domain isn’t just a tangled maze of dark woods and rough country where one could wander around lost for days. It’s not uninhabited out here.
Aside from the mistrusting, secretive, reserved folks who choose to dwell out in these parts, this land belongs to something else.
Something terrible, something relentless. Something with an insatiable appetite for violence and a deadly thirst for bloodshed.
For those who don’t belong out here, and even for those who do, nightmares are going to come true.
Now they're on their way to the train station, heading home, buoyant and in top spirits.
A chance encounter with a couple of excited schoolmates reveals the film premiere wasn't the only major event scheduled for this evening.
Since it's still early, with plenty of time to catch the last train, the cheery bunch of teenagers decide a detour off to City Park to investigate this other mysterious event couldn't hurt.
They couldn't be more wrong.
This apparent harmless detour is going to engulf them in a nightmarish tempest that none of them could have foreseen.
This is no concert, no art show, no festival. This is the Craze.
Soon enough these teens are going to be swallowed up in a relentless sea of violence and death, where ordinary citizens morph into bloodthirsty killers, intent only on slaughter.
The Craze is coming.
Embrace the Red.
This time around it is Couples being driven to all manner of Extremes to contend with a horror show of nightmare situations and circumstances.
Genuine couples, prospective couples, happy couples, unhappy couples. Would-be couples, never will be couples, friends, unusual duos. Good pairings, bad pairings.
All of them are about to be propelled into dark places and horrifying scenarios where calling upon extreme behaviour is the only answer, and even that is no guarantee of survival.
The newest addition to the escalating Extremes universe throws myriad couples into worlds of horror where darkness dwells, pain reigns supreme, and all hope goes to die.
These are tales of bloodshed and brutality, depravity and dread, terror and twisted souls.
After all, what’s better than forcing one character to go to Extremes? Taking Couples and making them go to Extremes together.
Edgar Allan Poe's death remains a mystery even today.
There are many theories as to what killed him. Some people believe Poe's death was caused by suicide, some believe murder, others consider cholera to be the leading factor, or hypoglycaemia, rabies, syphilis and even influenza. Whatever happened to him, Poe was found in a delirious state and wearing clothes believed to be belonging to someone else. In the days before his death, he was heard to be calling out for Reynolds, a man to which no one knew of Poe's connection.
This book does not tell you the truth in what happened to Poe. That will remain, forever, a mystery.
What this book does is bring together some of the biggest names in horror - from the mind behind the horror anthologies Masters Of Horror and NEXT DOOR - to tell
THEIR
version of what happened to Poe in his final moments. Expect gore, expect black humour, expect sex, expect violence, double-crossing and murder most foul... Expect pure fiction as we let our imaginations run riot.Including work from:

Shaun Hutson

One where the only segregation that exists is based upon musical preference. One where whatever type of music each city denizen swears allegiance to defines where they dwell and which group of people they belong with, and these musical passions are their religions, their beliefs, their cultures.
It should be a Utopian existence. It should be ideal. It isn't.
This is a city beset by violence, plagued by divides. Run by warring factions, split by constant differences.
One ruled by Clans.
And while there is perpetual conflict raging between Clans Mantas-wide , nowhere is quite as volatile as the eternal battle being waged in the inner city where two warring factions hold court.
The Metalheads. The Punks.
Whilst Matt Shaw is busy producing, writing and directing the feature film NEXT DOOR he decided to put together a horror anthology of the same name, and with the same theme as the motion picture. None of the stories in this collection feature in the film; the two products are completely separate other than the central concept of exploring who does live NEXT DOOR to us?
Given the fact these are some of the biggest names in horror, you can bet that whomever is living next door probably won't be the friendliest of characters...
The year is 2019 and technology has come so far that we spend more time staring at our mobile devices, and screens in general, than getting to know our next door neighbour. Gone are the days of knowing everyone who lives on the same street, or in the same village. Instead we leave our houses, avoid eye-contact or give the bare minimum of grunts to those we see and go about our daily lives without a care for anyone else. No more street parties, no more kindly neighbours checking in on you, no more Christmas cards from the little old lady who lives across the street. There's only "us" and our technology.
This anthology takes a look at who lives NEXT DOOR and what secrets they may be keeping. And who knows, maybe it will serve as warning to you that, really, you should be paying attention to those living close-by. After all, Fred West was someone's neighbour once...
