Minecraft English Ages 9-10: Official Workbook (Minecraft Education)
What an amazing idea to mix Minecraft and the National Curriculum for writing, my son has to be really encouraged to do additional work in English and when I first came across this workbook I knew immediately he would be drawn to it.
Surely enough, he was, he won't put it down and asks to keep doing extra pages of work, the reason, he's a huge Minecraft fan! I'm surprised the idea of mixing Minecraft and education, in the form of workbooks, hasn't been done before, he has used the Minecraft Education on the PC but that's slightly different, less screen time the better and these workbooks will achieve that plus provide education at the same time.
The workbook has been written and laid out so that you follow the story of two character's, Zack and Nadia, that want to build a portal to enter the Nether, as you work through the book the story progresses.
There are 4 sections to the workbook:
1. Transcription and spelling (In the form of the Forest biome)
2. Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation (Based in the Nether wastes)
3. Composition (Located in the Soul Sand Valley)
4. Creative Writing (Set in the Crimson Forest)
In each of the above you'll have subcategories and there's questions related to purely the Minecraft storyline and the characters. Your child can earn 'Emeralds' for each question which are added up for each subcategory, once the workbook is finished they can be traded in for fictional items in the inventory list, I'm going to change the list to some kind of reward.
The workbook is 80 pages long, the answers are found in the back so that the work can be marked correctly. The pages are colourful, clearly laid out and easy to write on in either pen or pencil.
Best £4.99 I've spent on an educational workbook for my son, you're most definitely getting value for money.

and based on the reaction from my son I've ordered the
Maths 9-10
and
Maths 10-11
in this Minecraft series.
