Aunque ciertamente se echa de menos a la figura principal del resto de películas de esta misma saga, hay que reconocer que lograron integrar completamente esta última película con la historia del resto de la saga con un resultado muy bien encajado con lo cual le dieron mucho sentido.
Siento mucho no explicar nada, pero es que lo mejor es verla vosotros mismos.

Tenemos una imagen 4K real con este UHD, los colores son más vibrantes y se revelan muchos detalles gracias al HDR. Y la banda sonora también está presente, con potentes Dolby Atmos para la versión original.

Pues vaya gracia, si compro una edición de España, digo yo que no es descabellado pensar que los dos discos traigan el castellano. El disco 4k si trae castellano, mientras que el Bluray normal solo tiene la opción de Español Latino, algo que si yo llego a saber me compro una edición extranjera y más barata, ya que no dispongo de reproductor 4k, y compré esta edición porque la saga es prácticamente imposible de conseguir hoy en día al menos de primera mano. Una lástima que no cuiden esos detallitos y metan discos de ediciones de otros países, que por otro lado podría haber conseguido por la mitad. Muy descontento con la compra. He comprado más películas de Resident Evil en 4k y TODAS salvo esta tienen castellano en el bluray normal

THE ORIGINAL REVIEW WAS FOR RESIDENT EVIL AND NOT RE THE FINAL CHAPTER

RE The Final Chapter is one of the worst films ever. Not just in the RE canon but in the history of films. If they had employed a cameraman instead of someone who had clearly had too much caffeine and uncontrollabley shaking hands it might have worked. And if they had employed an editor instead of someone just randomly cutting scenes together it might have been watchable. Someone who could write dialogue would have been good but that is probably too much to ask for. So, RE The Final Chapter is best to avoid at all costs. If you want to know what Resident Evil (2002) is like then read on...

You have to look at this film in context.

If you don't like "B" movies, or hate horror films (or zombie flicks in particular) there is nothing for you in this film. 1 star would be generous. Why are you even looking at a review?

If you do like "B" movies and/or horror there is a lot of fun to be had here. It's not a great film, it does not break new ground, but it certainly isn't bad either. It has in fact held up surprisingly well. It's never going to be a classic but that doesn't matter. You should probably watch it, you may be pleasantly surprised. 3 stars.

If you like Resident Evil and zombies and turning your brain off for 90 minutes then this is great. 5 stars all the way.

Well written with good continuity, tight plotting and great acting are words never used when talking about RE films. The don't really make much sense from one film to the next. They often don't make sense from one scene to the next. But that isn't why you are watching this film is it. Great at what it is, but you kinda have to know that this is what you want to get the most from it. Everyone else will probably not enjoy it.

This has all the usual caveats for a 4k film. It's not a bad job. It's an upgrade over the blu ray. It's the best way to see this film...but it's never going to wow you. The film did not have the budget and was probably never made with 4K in mind. With all those things considered it's nice...certainly much better than some recent 4K re-releases where the only difference from the DVD version seems to be the packaging.

Fans...buy it now.

Everyone else wait for the inevitable multi buy offers.

This is a favourite of mine. One can check IMDB to find out more about the movie and the whole series. My comment here is about the UHD and ATMOS quality. Some older movies get all blocky and grainy in UHD. Resident Evil held up quite well I found. I guess it helps that it is nowhere near as old as the original Blade Runner is. What I really loved about this UK version is that it has a great True ATMOS soundtrack. Be careful elsewhere in Europe. If the disc is based on the Germany disc, then it is not ATMOS!

Gute Grundlage, holpriges Gerüst: Resident Evil ist ursprünglich ein Videospiel aus Japan mit dem Namen "Biohazard". Das Spiel konnte sich weltweit etablieren und gilt als Inbegriff des Survival-Horror-Genres.
Constantin sicherte sich die Verfilmungsrechte und engagierte den Zombie-Urvater George A. Romero mit der Adaption. Sein Drehbuchentwurf fiel allerdings bei Produzent Bernd Eichinger durch und Paul W.S.Anderson (Alien vs Predator, Event Horizon) trat seine Nachfolge an. Anderson war bemüht die subversiven Ideen eines Romero drastisch zu mindern, um die von den Produzenten gewollten FSK 16 Einstufung zu erreichen.
Der Film lief dann an der Kinokasse ganz ordentlich, wurde von der Kritik jämmerlich verrissen und hat sich dennoch in den 7 Jahren seiner Existenz ein bisschen Kultpotential geschaffen.
Die Ausgangsidee ist schon extrem spannend:
In einer geheimen unterirdischen Entwicklungseinrichtung "The Hive", betreibt der Megakonzern "Umbrella Corporation" geheime Forschungen mit höchst gefährlichen biologischen Stoffen. Beim Verlassen eines dieser abgeschotteten Labors schleudert eine unbekannte Person ein Reagenzglas durch den Raum. Der Inhalt ergießt sich auf den Boden und der Alptraum beginnt:
Die Alarmsirene wird aktiv. Hunderte von Mitarbeitern sind in grösster Panik und alle rennen Richtung rettender Ausgang. Vergeblich. Keiner von ihnen kann das Gebäude mehr verlassen. Der Zentralcomputer, die Red Queen hat alle Türen und Fahrstühle verschlossen, um zu verhindern, dass das T-Virus an die Oberfläche gelangt.
Nach wenigen Augenblicken ist im gesamten Gebäudekomplex kein Mensch mehr am Leben.
Szenenwechsel: Spence (James Purefoy) und Alice (Milla Jovovich)waren durch eine Nervengift bewusstlos, wachen auf und leiden an Amnesie.
Ein von der Umbrella Corporation beauftragtes bewaffnetes Team dringt ins Haus ein, Beide werden mitgenommen und den ausser Kontrolle geratenen Zentralcomputer abzuschalten. Dem Team gelingt es, den Zentralcomputer, der auch in der Gestalt eines Kindes auftaucht, trotz einer perfiden Laserwaffe, die Körper halbieren kann, abzuschalten.
Doch der Rückweg ist durch Zombies, mutierte Dobermänner, durch ein ekliges Monster mit Megazunge, durch eine beissende Heike Makatsch sowie durch eingene Sabotage erschwert.
Selbst die toughe Rain (Michelle Rodrigues), eine weitere Seelenverwandte von Private J. Vasquez aus Alien 2, ist am Verzweifeln...
"Resident Evil" ist ein recht unterhaltsamer Horrortrash, vorausgesetzt man hat keine grossen Erwartungen ein Genremeisterwerk zu sehen. Der Film funktioniert aber für kurzweiligen Mitternachts-Moviehorror. Punkten kann der Film durch die klaustrophobische kalte fast seelenlose Atmosphäre in diesem kalten Unterirdischen Labor. Schwachpunkt sind eindeutig die Figuren, die hier das ultimative Survival Training absolvieren. Lediglich die beiden Frauenfiguren sind nicht so ganz farblos. Da hätte man sicher sehr viel mehr an Stimmung rüberbringen können, wenn die Protagonisten nicht gar so eindimensional und damit auch uninteressant gezeichnet wären.
Das Gesetz des Genres ist ja eindeutig: Je besser die Figuren gezeichnet sind, desto eher funktioniert das Mitfiebern.
Im Endeffekt bleibt der Film merkwürdig stereotyp, eigentlich schade...
