My son, almost 6 years old loves this toy. It was one of his birthday gifts......BUT........Absolutely NO DIRECTIONS!!!!!!!! It took 3 adults (3 well educated adults) to figure out how to make it work. You have to add directions to this toy! I did not figure it out until I went online and searched how to make it work and then I found Ryan’s video. You all either need to provide a link to his video upon opening the toy or provide directions. We have bought several Ryan toys since my son is obsessed and you all have to get better and provide the needed directions to these toys!!! I wasted an hour of my life with a crying son trying to make this work. Parents - You have to put the ooze on top of the robots head to make it work. Now I’m wondering if they have ooze to re-purchase once this ooze stops working. Very frustrated momma but now my son is happy and likes it. 4 stars because of the frustration on how to make this work with no directions.

Sticky, Gooey, Messy...mix & let dry out a bit

So upon first opening this goo, it was sooooo extremely sticky. It reminded me of when my son made slime at an event at school. When making slime, if you don’t add enough activator or don’t mix it a bunch before handling, it will stick all over your hands. This goo felt like this. It feels impossible to get off, because it is so sticky & gooey. What I learned is that if you continue to mix it, the goo becomes less gooey & starts to bond together. You know how when you have some of the sticky left on something when you try to remove tape? You then take a new piece of tape & slap the sticky side of the new tape on the sticky part that stayed behind & it will usually will pull the sticky residue left on the surface off. I did this with my hand on the goo after working it together. I slapped my hand against the blob of goo quickly like I would with tape & it started coming off. Also something I noted was that if you leave the goo out & mix it every so often, the gooey will dry up a bit and not be so sticky. Don’t leave it out more than a day though. It does eventually dry up & becomes impossible to really do anything with it except trash it. We found this out after my son left it outside & didn’t notice it was open for three days. It dried up & was useless. I’ve attached a video of me sticking my hand in the goo & it coming out clean to show you how. This was after I let it dry. I give it a 3 star, because it is actually pretty darn messy to begin with. After that, my son had mess free fun. Oh, & it smells like glue & makes your hands smell like that too.

My 5 year old likes this a lot. I thought that it didn’t work at first. My son was upset but I told him we would get another one. We then realized that we had to put something on top of the robot’s head to make it work. I’m not sure if that is what is supposed to happen, but my son is happy enough. I am not crazy about the marble sized ball that came with it. Seems dangerous for small children. Also it is very difficult for a small child to open the front of the robot to get to the compartment. Needless to say I have been opening it for him all day. Overall we are happy with the product.

So it came in a box that was not how is shown, no directions at all it did come with batteries. It took the child himself to work it. Adults the toy works.
There are two smlal sensors on it's head that make him talk and light up the eyes. That's really all it does. The slime is meant to be placed on his head for the sensors to work, but it works with playdough or just placing your fingertips on those small sensors. Once you do the robbot tells you the instructions. The toy was a gift.and once we found out how it worked he loved it!

My son was so happy , I read the reviews I thought the same thing when I switch the button on and didn't hear any noise when I press the big button so I YouTube it the buttons are on the head the two small metal buttons for the robot to talk . Over all good toy

Let's be honest - Ryan's toys are awful. His show is awful. His mom's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. But our kids love all things Ryan. So I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my son with low expectations. I initially tried to throw away the slime (who wants slime getting in their carpet and furniture?) but when the robot didn't work, I came on here and some very nice reviewer said the slime is what activates the robot. We were able to make it work without the slime by pressing the tiny metal prongs on the head but my son couldn't get it to consistently work that way, so I let him have the slime (with very specific rules, of course). It would be nice if the box explained the necessity of the slime -- heck, it would be nice if it was upfront in the details for those who don't want to even deal with slime. But it is asking too much. Oh and there are definitely small pieces that will get lost. The nice thing is that my son plays with the robot without the slime on a regular basis and so far nothing has broken, so not the worst toy but definitely not a 4 or 5 star.
