The #1 New York Times bestselling author of Year One and Of Blood and Bone concludes her stunning new trilogy praised as “A match for end-of-the-world classics like Stephen King’s The Stand.”
After the sickness known as the Doom destroyed civilization, magick has become commonplace, and Fallon Swift has spent her young years learning its ways. Fallon cannot live in peace until she frees those who have been preyed upon by the government or the fanatical Purity Warriors, endlessly hunted or locked up in laboratories, brutalized for years on end. She is determined to save even those who have been complicit with this evil out of fear or weakness - if, indeed, they can be saved.
Strengthened by the bond she shares with her fellow warrior, Duncan, Fallon has already succeeded in rescuing countless shifters and elves and ordinary humans. Now she must help them heal - and rediscover the light and faith within themselves. For although from the time of her birth, she has been The One, she is still only one. And as she faces down an old nemesis, sets her sights on the enemy’s stronghold, and pursues her destiny - to finally restore the mystical shield that once protected them all - she will need an army behind her....

The main character Fallon is far less interesting and complex than her mother who much of the first book Year One focused on. Fallon essentially spends the entire prose talking about being “The One” and giving lots of speeches about light vs dark and setting her sword alight. Lana is reduced to being nothing more than a hand wringing parent (I lost count of the number of times “my girl!” or “my baby!” feature in the book).
The actual battle scenes are frightfully short and the main confrontation at the end of the book is over in less than 15 pages.

At one point the heroine of the story tells the horse “Baile” which, according to the book means home. It doesn’t. It actually means town - a translation which is shown on thousands of road signs across Ireland.
The entire series has constant mistakes in the attempts to use Irish and it’s not as if this hasn’t been pointed out, many of her books have reviews complaining about her use of another countries culture.
It’s offensive to appropriate another culture, and to do it lazily is even worse. If Ms Roberts. claims to be “Irish through and through” as she stated in an interview perhaps she could treat the Irish language and people with dignity, or stop using the Irish culture to sell books.
