Clearly one should read the first Mickey Bolitar book before embarking on the second as there are so many references to previous events and people that are never fully explained. This book ends on a slight cliffhanger but not enough to make me read the next instalment. Altogether a disappointing read.

Discovered Harlan Coben when in hospital in 2011 and his books helped me through a rough time, have read all of the stand alones (I think !) but only one of he Myron series, however I did enjoy Shelter and after the jaw-dropping ending to that I just had to read Seconds Away. Admitedly I dont get as much reading time now as I used to so the book took me a little while to get through, but I mostly enjoyed it .. untill the last couple of chapters. I found myself thinking "hang on theres only a few pages left and there's still so much unresolved".

So then one of the main storylines gets tied up quickly enough but another, the Mickeys dad situation .. my main reason for wanting to read the book, is again unresolved. Now I guess I'll have to buy the next one to see what happens (good business from the author!) but I'm not really sure I want to read all through another one incase its unresolved again !

Having said all that I cant wait for the new standalone 'Six Seconds' to come out. Harlan is normally top top class, maybe I was just expecting too much for a book aimed at young adults ? (which I unfortunatly am not!)

Being a fan of Harlan Coben, I must read all his book! I really liked his hero Mickey, so I wanted to follow his journey, and I must say that this second story is better than the first one "Shelter". If you haven't read Shelter though , you won't understand everything that's going on in Seconds Away, so you must read it first! I love the character of "Spoon" and Ema as well... Some really funny passages, and also very moving. I love the fact that they're all a bit outcasted from society for different reasons. It's a massive page turner and very easy to read. Perfect for train journeys and busy lifestyle. I loved it so much that it's made me want to read all of the books I haven't read from Coben, and the Myron Bolitar novels! I'm reading Back Spin now and really enjoying it!

This is the second in the Mickey Bolitar audio books continuing from the audio book Shelter. The story is about four high school kids. One of them, with her mothe, is shot and the other three attempt to find out who did the shooting and why. The story progress well and as you listen you are waiting to her what comes next. The narrator is excellent. I originally borrowed this audio book from my library and liked it so much I decided to buy it.

So if you love Myron then you will love Mickey, although the lad has issues he is still as likeable as his Uncle. This is a fast paced mystery thriller which explores some interesting themes whilst having an intriguing plot that keeps you guessing till the end will not leave you disappointed, in fact, it is arguably better than the first of the series, Shelter.

I enjoyed this book as it combines lightweight banter with food for thought, take from it what you will, the book is a cleverly crafted plot around some increasingly likable characters. You wont be disappointed.

I am glad Myron is still around although I do miss Win!
