Ver a los cuatro ensayando, creando nuevas composiciones sobre la marcha, el buen rollo a pesar de todo los ríos de tinta que se han escrito de las malas relaciones entre ellos, sin obviar que ellos mismos ya se daban cuenta que algún día no seguirían juntos porque faltaba esa figura paterna para mantenerlos unidos.
En fin, un documento histórico que nadie se puede perder, tanto para los fans de ellos como para los amantes del Rock en general.
Personalmente he disfrutado, en algún momento te crees que estás allí, en los estudiantes de grabación con ellos.

Tal y como explica la reseña del propio traductor del documental.
El documental en sí mismo es una maravilla. Una delicia para los fans de los Beatles (compra imprescindible en ese caso), y super disfrutable para cualquier aficionado a la música. Pero la edición, como siempre, es muy inapropiada para el consumidor español. Esto lamentablemente ya es habitual. Se asume que España somos un mercado nada rentable para las ediciones físicas. Pero eso no justifica usar una mala traducción para los subtítulos. Una pena

El documental está buen y tiene una calidad y sonido excelente pero…….. Los subtítulos pata España en latino?
No me lo puedo creer, he estado a punto de devolverlo y no veo mal que los subtítulos sean en latino para el mercado sudamericano, pero aquí queremos el castellano.

A pesar de la gran calidad del documental, de lo cual pude comprobar viéndola desde la plataforma Disney+, leo con asombro que los subtítulos en español de este producto están en español latino, en las ediciones inglesa y alemana actualmente existentes en Blu-Ray. Por si fuera poco, poseen una pésima traducción en la que apenas se entiende claramente lo que dicen. Si esto es lo que Disney, Apple y sus demás responsables pretenden vender a sus potenciales compradores en España, pues van listos.

Quería comprarlo como mi próximo regalo por Navidades, pero voy a pasar por completo de este blu-ray, hasta que sus máximos responsables revisen por completo estos subtítulos o los modifiquen por los que aparecen en Disney+.

No trae los subtítulos en castellano

El Blu-Ray de "The Beatles: Get Back" que acaba de editarse en julio de 2022 no incluye los subtítulos en castellano a los que dediqué tantísimas horas, sino sólo los subtítulos latinos que cometen continuos errores graves de traducción. Me compré la edición alemana en la que pone "Spanisch" en la caja, pero eran los subtítulos latinos, y al investigar un poco he conseguido la foto adjunta de la edición inglesa (que es la que se vende aquí, si os fijáis en los sellos de la calificación por edades británica e irlandesa).

Por suerte mi traducción en castellano sigue disponible en Disney+, pero me resulta extremadamente decepcionante simplemente como cinéfilo y coleccionista haber pagado 42 euros por una edición sin ningún tipo de extras para encontrarme con una traducción que no tiene un nivel mínimo de calidad. Si a vosotros os da igual tener una traducción en la que una grabadora de ocho pistas se traduce como un "cartucho de ocho pistas" literalmente la primera vez que abren la boca los Beatles y todo tipo de meteduras de pata de ese calibre, adelante. Sigue siendo una maravilla de documental y la restauración es increíble.

What happens when you review something from watching it on the telly and before it’s actually available? You make yourself look silly.

I can’t believe there are people whinging about this. We were all hoping the ‘Let It Be’ film would eventually be released on DVD but Apple surprised us all by turning it into something more than sumptuous. Nearly eight hours of rich footage to fulfil us and some are still not satisfied. Anyway, we can forget all those misery guts and concentrate on what’s here for our delectation. (And for those clamouring for 'Let It Be' to be released, I'm sure those 90 minutes are all included here.)

Coming in a slip case, that is a tad difficult to remove, the book style trio of CDs is presented in three parts with obvious breaks (Twickenham, Apple Studios and Rooftop) and shows how much more they were at home at Saville Row than the cold, empty vastness of a film studio. It’s also apparent that Ringo does seem a bit bored at times, not having as much screen time and far less dialogue than the others. However, what it does show is how he, and the other three, and you’ll notice this very early in proceedings, concentrate on following the one whose song it is by seemingly staring at him whilst trying to follow what he’s doing. I guess that’s how it worked for them.

Yes there may be lots of sitting around and talking but when Paul starts strumming his bass and George joins in, despite appearing to meander aimlessly, it eventually turns into a nascent ‘Get Back’. The inception of a classic before our very eyes. And there’s the thing about the songs. Mr Harrison turns up one morning having written ‘I Me Mine’ around a television show about dancing he saw the night before. Not an instrument associated with him, he also performs admirably on piano on ‘Old Brown Shoe’. Even Ringo tinkles the ivories on “the octopus one” when demonstrating it to George, who chucks in his own ideas seconds after hearing it. What you need to bear in mind is that most of what’s here is the group rehearsing and there are no full songs before the ‘rooftop show’. Though it was available on the Beatles’ own website, it’s a pity the director didn’t include the ‘rooftop’ segment without the cutaways to the public in the street.

As for the songs mentioned in the credits, it references a lot of Lennon/McCartney/Harrison/Starr compositions, of which some, viz. ‘Too Bad About Sorrows’, ‘I Fancy My Chances’, ‘Thinking Of Linking’, ‘Just Fun’ and ‘I Lost My Little Girl’, for example, will be familiar to die-hard fans, but none of us will know about the remaining ones such as ‘Song Of Love’, ‘Cupcake Baby’, ‘My Imagination’, ‘You Wear Your Women Out’ and many others. Okay, these very brief snippets of music (and some barely there ‘made-up-on-the-spot’ vocals) have probably been given titles as they could hardly have all been called ‘Improvisation’, but then again, maybe they really did exist, such is the minefield that is music copyright. Mind you, ‘Freakout Jam (featuring Yoko Ono)’ should have been taken further and eventually issued.

Having watched this, you’ll ask yourself whether these sessions really were as bad as we were first led to believe. Okay, George left for a few days but what we see here isn’t the oft peddled disintegration of the group. It couldn’t have been that bad, as they did go on to record ‘Abbey Road’ later in the year, though many of the songs on that were premiered here. Then again, maybe all the nasty stuff was left out so as not to sully their image.

Whilst the packaging is a bit disappointing, as it would have been nice to have something included to read, after years of ‘will it’ ‘won’t it’ speculation, I, for one, am pleased we can now have this. Okay, this won’t really appeal to the casual buyer, but we all know the legion of die-hard fans will. And that means you! Oh, and you get four postcard size photos of the Fabs.

Zunächst: Das vorliegende 3er Bluray- Disc Set bietet unglaubliche 468 Minuten (7 Stunden, 48 Minuten) Beatles pur im Januar 1969. Bild- und Tonqualität sind durchweg erstaunlich gut. Bereits im Vorspann gibt es einige Bilder und kurze Szenen, die ich selbst als mittlerweile jahrzehntelanger Beatles Hardcore- Fan noch nie gesehen habe. Der erste Eindruck ist schon mal sehr positiv.

Satte 150 Stunden Audio- und 60 Stunden Video- Material sollen dem Regisseur Peter Jackson zur Verfügung gestanden haben. Bislang berichteten die Chroniken schier ausnahmslos von einer hoffnungslos zerstrittenen Band. Sehr erstaunt war ich im Vorfeld von den Trailern, die die Fab Four seltsamerweise beschwingt und fröhlich wie zu Pilzkopf- Zeiten zeigten.......

Und ich staune Bauklötze: Diese völlig neue Ansicht bleibt größtenteils bestehen. Wir erleben John, Paul, George und Ringo als eine hochprofessionell eingestellte, konzentriert- bemühte Band, die ihr berühmtes Lächeln noch immer nicht verloren hat.

Darum geht es: 14 Songs sollen fertiggestellt und eingeübt werden und in Form von zwei Groß- Konzerten (zunächst vorschlagsweise in Lybien) vor großem Publikum gespielt werden. Bereits hier ist einer der Fab Four nicht damit einverstanden, dafür ins Ausland gehen zu wollen. "Ersetzen wir ihn durch Jimmy Nicoll", ruft John Lennon, allerdings mit Augenzwinkern. Klar, gemeint ist Ringo, der ja schon 1964 während kurzfristiger Erkrankung bei einigen wenigen Konzerten von dem Aushilfs- Drummer Jimmy Nicoll vertreten wurde.

Die gesamte Erzählweise ist sehr gut strukturiert: Tagebuchartig wird jeder neue Tag und sogar jeder angespielte Song per Texttafel vorgestellt. Darunter befinden sich etliche Songs, die zumindest offiziell noch nicht veröffentlicht wurden. Erfreulicherweise gibt es generell keine störenden Quietsch- Geräusche von den mitlaufenden Bandmaschinen (die fast jeder Sammler von diversen Bootlegs kennen dürfte).

Während des Anschauens habe ich mir so viele Stichpunkte gemacht, möchte aber im Großen und Ganzen nur die Anfangsphase spoilern, damit jeder Betrachter natürlich selbst auf eigene Entdeckungsreise gehen kann. Nur ein Beispiel: Wir erleben die Beatles als sehr kreative Band, die selbst bei einem Song, der gar nicht mit auf das spätere Album kommen sollte, noch viele Facetten herausarbeitet: "Don't let me down!" Die Band singt mehrstimmig, meist per Wechselgesang oder auch mal per zweiter Stimme (in den hohen Tönen Paul) und variiert beispielsweise auch im Takt und Tempo und sogar auch noch in Dur und Moll.

Auch sehr viele private Momente sind enthalten, z.B. wie sie gemeinsam im für sie erstellten "Beatles Monthly Book" stöbern, sich über "Obladi- Oblada" lustig machen oder sich natürlich selber auf die Schippe nehmen: "Bei deiner Musik kriegen wir alle einen Ständer" oder "Hör auf zu saufen, Kumpel." Auch den legendären Streit zwischen Paul und George erleben wir in der Entwicklung bis zum mehrtägigen Verschwinden Georges. "Ich habe Angst, der Boss zu sein", meint Paul, fügt aber tonangebend noch dazu, "und der Boss bin ich doch schon seit ein paar Jahren." Sehr schön und treffend wirkt gerade in diesem Kontext der Einwurf des ursprünglichen Regisseurs Michael Lindsay- Hogg, der gelegentlich auch im Film zu sehen ist: "Jungs, wenn ihr Streit haben wollt, könnt ihr auch wieder nach Manila fahren" (wo die Beatles 1966 von einer aufgehetzten Menge bedrängt und sogar bedroht worden waren).

Ich habe nun Einiges vorweggenommen, darf aber versichern, dass es noch sehr, sehr Vieles in den folgenden Stunden zu entdecken geben wird. Obwohl es kaum zu glauben ist, überwiegt insgesamt eine sehr gute Stimmung, vor allem beim Musizieren. Streckenweise erinnert mich die Machart sogar an neuzeitliche Produktionen wie "Big Brother" oder "Dschungelcamp" (allerdings natürlich auf weit höherem Niveau). Etliche Situationen wirken dabei nicht zufällig, sondern wie per Drehbuch einstudiert: Während wichtiger Szenen oder origineller Zurufe ist die Kamera bereits genau am richtigen Fleck und fängt die jeweilige Situation in Großaufnahme ein.

Insgesamt ist es eine sehr, sehr große Freude, so viel Material von den Beatles nach gefühlt mehrhundertjähriger Wartezeit erleben zu dürfen. Und, wie gesagt, die Band präsentiert sich keineswegs als lustlos abgehalfterte Formation, die das Lächeln und Lachen längst verlernt hat. Beinahe erscheint es mir, als müssten die Geschichtsbücher in diesem Punkt neu geschrieben werden.

Einen einzigen Stern Abzug gibt es von mir wegen der sich doch sehr hinziehenden Atmosphäre in den letzten Tagen vor dem finalen Auftritt. Das knapp 30 minütige Konzert auf dem Dach des Apple- Gebäudes erleben wir in voller Länge. Und dies ist nach wie vor ein echtes Highlight!

Selbstverständlich klare Kaufempfehlung.

This arrived this morning & being on annual leave I was able to view the first disc.
I cannot add to what has already been said about this superb documentary other than to say it’s fantastic!
The three discs come in a booklet style presentation box, which includes four postcards of the Fabs. The box & slip case are of a very high quality indeed.
As for the picture, it is clear ‘n’ crisp & the atmos sound is glorious! Seriously, the sound quality is so good you could easily believe that the band is rehearsing in your living room!
There are no extras on any of the discs, so us fans expecting additional / bonus material will be (slightly) disappointed about this. Rumours of a “12 hour” directors cut are just that: rumours. Perhaps in the future when the Beatles (finally) re-release the original Let it Be movie there may be some additional material but what’s included here is exactly what’s been streaming on Disney. So...no option to ‘just’ watch the rooftop concert without cuts to the street / audience, which I know some of us Beatle nuts wanted.
However, now having this set on three discs is fantastic & (as I’ve said already) the sound & picture quality is amazing, especially when one considers the rather dark & poor quality of the original Let it Be movie (which I have on a bootleg DVD!)
All told, I’m over the moon with this & I'm looking forward to spending some of the rest of my holiday watching this glorious documentary, a documentary showing (without a shadow of a doubt) the very BEST rock group ever to record music.
If you’re a Beatle fanatic then you WILL want to own, watch & enjoy this glorious set.
There are no extras but...so what!!! this is 468 minutes (nearly 8 hours) of pure Beatle magic. What more could you ask for!!!?

Apple hat es also nach sage und schreibe 52 Jahren doch noch geschafft, das Filmmaterial von Januar 1969 zu veröffentlichen. Und obwohl die neue Version alle Wünsche eines Beatles-Fans von damals voll erfüllt und sogar noch übertrifft, ist es eine Schande, die treuen Anhänger ein halbes Jahrhundert warten zu lassen. Wie viele treue Fans sind darüber hinweggestorben, Paul!
Der auch in "Get Back" immer wieder geäußerte Anspruch, "die Besten" zu sein, ein Ziel, das John Lennon schon in den frühen Hamburger Jahren erklärt hatte, klingt hohl, denn die peinlichen Umstände der Herausgabe des Filmmaterials bleiben als ein völliges Versagen der Verantwortlichen im kollektiven Gedächtnis der Anhänger. Die Beatles hätten das Projekt spätestens nach der Kooperation der drei noch Lebenden von 1994/95 in Angriff nehmen sollen.
Im Frühjahr 1970 kaufte ich mir die LP "Let it be" in der damals sensationellen Aufmachung mit beigelegter Farbbroschüre, ohne Aufpreis für 18 oder 20 DM. Das war bei Schallplatten gebundener Festpreis damals. Man konnte die durch Paul im Frühjahr 1970 aufgelöste Band auf unendlich vielen Farbfotos in diesem Buch bei den Filmaufnahmen zu "Get back" bewundern. Doch nach dem 3. Durchblättern lösten sich die schlecht gebunden Seiten heraus und das Buch zerfiel leider. Was war zu tun? Man dekorierte das Jugendzimmer mit diesen Fotoseiten. Die Motive prägten sich tief in das Fangedächtnis ein. Ringo im roten Mac und die gelben Osterglocken vor seinem Schlagzeug. Die Bilder noch einmal als Film zu sehen, war in Deutschland nur in Großstädten möglich. Aber da die Medien bereits vorab den Film miesgemacht hatten, nahmen viele Kinos "Let it be", wie er damals noch hieß, schnell wieder aus dem Programm. Bei einer Englandreise 1974 durfte ich den Film im Rahmen einer langen Beatles-Nacht in Brighton im Kino sehen. Die Aufnahmen waren von schlechter Bild- u. Tonqualität und überhaupt nicht zu vergleichen mit der Fassung von 2021. Jetzt wird für uns die größte Sensation des 20. Jahrhunderts auf dem Riesenflachbildschirm bzw. im Studio wieder lebendig. Aber im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes. Die von McCartney meistens provozierten Streitigkeiten, weil er den Boß mimen wollte, sind ebenso deutlich zu sehen, wie der Spaß und der Humor sowie die Teamarbeit der Fab Four im Komponieren oder Perfektionieren der Songs. Wenn man die vier Liverpooler in den Aufnahmen verfolgt, bekommt man ein bißchen Mitleid mit Ringo und George. Ringo bleibt zurückhaltend, fast gelangweilt und George's Kompositionen werden von John völlig zu unrecht runter- und lächerlich gemacht. Kein Wunder, dass George gehen wollte. Dass man seine wunderschönen Kompositionen wie "All things must pass" und "Isn't it a petty" nicht schon damals bei den Beatles mit George Martin's legendären Arrangements versehen hat, kann man nur bedauern. Es wären Klassiker geworden wie "Something" oder "While my guitar". Abschließend muss den Machern ein großes Lob ausgesprochen werden, denn nach dem Film "Eight days a week", dem großangekündigten Dokumentarfilm über die Jahre der Live-Auftritte, der aber ein totales Ärgernis war, ist "Get Back" das Beste, was seit der Anthology-Trilogie von Apple veröffentlicht wurde. Selbst die Verpackung ist endlich stabil und nicht mehr so dünn und flatterig, wie die bisherigen Ausgaben seit 2004. Mit "Get Back" hat sich Apple selbst übertroffen.

I watched the whole 7 and a half hours in 2 days. I could not stop watching this astonishing documentary film. Each of the 3 discs are 2 and a half hours long. If you are a total Beatles fan, as I am, this is basically gold dust. They were obviously filmed for so long (60 hours originally!) that they seem to forget that they are being filmed. You get the real Beatles, all the gripes, all the humour, all the relentless search for brilliant songs. Oh no George has had enough. He's gone home. I will leave it a week or two and then watch the whole bloody thing again. Those songs are stuck in my head even when I go to bed! I love them and I love this documentary film. Knockout.
