A Change for the Worse
Revisado en el Reino Unido 🇬🇧 el 18 de noviembre de 2018
I really enjoyed the first few movies for what they were - fairly brainless switch your-mind-off bonanzas of lots of special effects with big robots fighting and destroying even bigger set pieces in the process. They were also good fun films with plenty of funny moments thrown in (absolutely loved the parents in those films!) and a likable cast who you could invest in a little - enough for you to enjoy more than just the CGI.
This one just stick with the robots, makes everything bigger, everything brighter and everything last longer. But everything seems lost in this one and I really didn't enjoy the new cast at all and it just felt like a drag interspersed with occasionally semi-decent battle scenes. The parts that irked a little in the first movies, such as terrible dialogue and silly plot holes, irk a LOT in this offering and it feels like Transformers has lost its sparkle a bit. I'm hoping they reboot again as could happily take or leave any future films that follow this same set-up.

Improvement over the last film but could be a bit shorter ★ spoilers ★

First things first, they finally god rid of Shia LeBoef (spelling?) And his family as I found they were starting to get annoying and the main focus seemed tobe on them. Mark Walberg is pretty decent in this film, however they've done the usual Hollywood thing by having him trying to fix his relationship with his daughter, why do they always seem to have single parents with estranged kids, or is it just me. They could have done with out this in my opinion and focused more on the overall story and Transformers.
My only real gripe with the film is that it is really long and drags on, cutting a lot of gumpf could maybe have made this a 4 star (maybe). Also I was slightly confused over who was the main protagonist as they feature Galvatron and a new bounty hunter (I've forgotten his name). Also Galvatron is shown to be an advanced transformer created by humans which doesn't make sense, how can an advanced race of machines be improved by less advanced humans who reverse engineer Megatron's head???? Also Galvatron and these new transformers seem almost unstoppable when 1st encounter but are beaten quite easily later on by the Autobots, and where are the Decipticons in all this?
Overall it is still an enjoyable film with some issues, they have set up a sequel and if they do make it I hope Michael Bay finally addresses the issues people have with the Transformer films, afterall the 1st one was really good.

Ok, my 11 year old son loved it - Transformer dinosaurs - awesome!
I struggled tbh, particularly after watching T3 - DSOTM. Ok none of them are ever going to win an Oscar, but for sheer action and fun (transforming robot trucks and super cars - come on that's cool!) the first three are great. This however you could easily see that they wanted to reboot the series, but the story struggles. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work out. Mark Wahlberg is left thinking "Am I really doing this?" quite a lot. I struggled with Frazier as the main villain, but I did like Stanley Tucci. It just seemed a bit of a mishmash.
I hope 5 has a better story.

Way too long, dull and only worth buying if you can get a bargin

This starts quite well - feeds in the back story from the last 3 movies. Nice idea with the inventor finding Optimus Prime and then accidentally fixing him, but it then steadily goes down hill after that. For starters its ridiculously too long - we have not just one or two "head to heads" with Optimus and the chief baddy but three/four. By the end you give up caring because you know that Optimus will win anyway. The product placement is so obvious to beggar belief and actually detracts from the movie. The dinobots play a minor part right at the end of the movie and why they are their isn't properly explained.
I think this franchise has run its course - time to look else where

Present for a transformers junkie.
We had already been forced to watch at the movies, and the video has already been watched twice over the chirstmas break - so I guess the recipient was very happy with it.
Preferred to take the DVD rather than blue ray, to be compatible with small screen car screens/players - where such videos are a god send to entertain the backseat rabble - when shown on a big screen the upscaling of the players these days does a very good job at improving the rendering in anycase.
As for the movie itself - it is a little longer and more in depth than the others, and there is a considerable change in lead characters - not a bad thing in my opinion (in this case) - but it is what it is - a movie about a few kids toys that have been upscaled and have deep voices...lots of action and explosions....just what the recipient wanted.
