Comedy and laughter of WW2 where the Americans liberate and Italian Village and where James Coburn is the Lieutenant and Dick Shaun the commander in charge of the operation. Adultery is soon to be found where Dick Shaun is playing around with one of Italian Officers girl friends. This leads to local fights and braws as well as conflicts. They have to act has if they are fighting inorder to surrender to the Americans, that is the Itailans. Unfortunately, the Germans get in the way as the last obsticale. Seeing the funny side of WW2 the film is hilarious and a good comedy to watch.

This film is even better than when I first saw it in the late sixties. It's such a change to watch a 'war' film where you just can't take any aspect of the plot seriously - ! Blake Edwards was very good at including certain subtleties in his camerawork which only enhance the already daft plot; American and Italian soldiers work between getting along and having petty squabbles and then the Germans come along and spoil things - oh yeah - ? And not forgetting the two inept bank robbers who are determined to get to the vault - !

great load of rubbish,if this catches you in the right mood,movie is hilarious,if not keep it for a rainny day,why these type of films ever get made is a mystery,but forget that,some of this james coburn film had me in stiches,just keep brain in reverse,and have a good fun viewing time
