✑ LOVE ON THE BRAIN, by Ali Hazelwood 🪐💗
rating: ★ ★ ★ . 5 stars (3.5) enjoyed it!
“You were always in my head. And I could never get you out.”

Let me start off by giving a HUGE thank you to @prhinternational for giving me a change to read and review this book ahead of its release! the fact that I was given the opportunity to do so is beyond amazing!!

I read and loved The Love Hypothesis last year, so I had so many expectations when it came to this book. The plot was so intriging to me, and the promised tropes we can count on by the blurb got me so excited! And I have to say that, while it ended up being as much as I expected, It was such a nice, good read.

As said, I loved all the science/NASA setting and plot we were provided with. Seeing Bee shine in that department was one of the things I enjoyed the most about this book. Then, we had Levi. I know it is difficult to get better than Adam guys, but I promise you that Levi won’t disappoint. I loved him SO much, he was such a sweetheart with Bee. Seeing her be completely cluless about how head over heels he was for her was fun to read (although I feel like she could have come to that realisation sooner, it was SO CLEAR!).

The spice was, in my opinion, bigger and better in this book, and I personally enjoyed the fact that we got to see glimpses of romance between secondary characters too! While there were things that made my love for this book go a bit down (the plot being quite predictable in the end, bee sometimes beeing way too clueless for my liking, the ending being so soon! i wanted to see more of Levi and Bee’s relationship development), I quite enjoyed this read, and I promise you guys will fall in love with Levi Ward in a heartbeat.

Besides all those points, here are other small things in the book that I personally loved (NOT SHARING SOME BECAUSE OF SPOILERS):

🪐 bee’s hair colours
🪐 the cats. i’m always here for the cats
🪐 levi’s personality
🪐 penny and levi’s relationship
🪐 bee’s personality (take out how clueless she was, though)
🪐 bee owning a secret twitter account

Mark your calendars! Love on the Brain is coming on August 23rd!✨💗. #PRHInternationalPartner

So, I can definitely see the "pattern" here. Some people have pointed this out and it's true. This one is quite similar in many aspects to her first book which I absolutely loved. However, I don't think this is a big problem for me. When done right, I'm fine with that. Same with the "fake marriage/dating", "enemies to lovers", etc. When those cliches are well developed and well written I'm all for them. So I enjoyed reading this one even with all the similarities to her previous work.

OMG

OH MY GOD

OH MIO DIO

Questo libro é meraviglioso.
Bellissimo.
So cute e divertente.

E' ancora freddo, distaccato, antipatico.

Secondo lei tutti vanno via, tutti ti lasciano.

4,0 de 5 estrellas A great if slightly predictable story

Rating: 4 stars
Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5

Let’s start with the characters! Bee was a fun, intelligent women determined to make her way in the world of STEM. For the most part, I found her charming and her inner monologue to be endearing and entertaining. BUT there were times when she was a bit too quirky. For instance, it may just be the country girl in me, but I highly doubt that people cry over road kill. That was a bit over the top…. Also I could have done without the weird little sayings with the ™️. And the incessant Marie Curie facts. Sorry not sorry. As a whole, she was a fun loving main character who had a pretty good character arc!

Let’s talk about Levi! I loved his character! Did I picture Henry Cavill? Maybe…. Levi was the perfect amount of moody broody mixed with sweet, nerdy, and thoughtful. I loved seeing the transition from Bee’s arch-nemesis to friendly coworker to lover. Everything about him was 10/10. I love a take charge alpha male that has a softer side for those he loves!

As far as the plot goes, it was delightful if a bit predictable. Possible spoilers ahead so read at your own risk. The big reveal was pretty much spelled out and spoon fed to the reader from the get go. Also, I call BS on ALL the things that Bee and Levi had in common. It got to the point that I just had to roll my eyes. May just be me but I don’t want to date a carbon copy of myself. Did I still find the storyline to be engaging and the relationship endearing? Absolutely! I loved the tension between Bee and Levi at the beginning. I’m a big sucker for gut clenching, heart rending angst and this book had it! The drama between Bee and Tim/Annie was *chefs kiss! I loved seeing Levi support Bee through it and put Tim and their other old coworkers in their place!
All in all, it was an enjoyable read that I devoured! A great enemies to lovers storyline. For the most part, I thought this book had the perfect amount of sweet and spice without be nauseating.

5,0 de 5 estrellas LOVE ON THE BRAIN: MADE ALL MY SYNAPSES RAPID-FIRE IN HILARIOUS ROMANTIC HARMONY

“The real villain is love: an unstable isotope, constantly undergoing spontaneous nuclear decay. And it will forever go unpunished.”

Ali Hazelwood has a groove …a niche… a rhythm unlike any other author. She’s got me deep in the palm of her devious scientifically brilliant, romantically pulsating STEM-lively hand and I’ve devoured every single one of her 5 books, starting with debut novel The Love Hypothesis. She hasn’t lost an ounce of her edge, unique wit, writing skill, or ability to reel me into nerd love with total abandon. I’m down for every single couple: the sexy awkward girls teeming with relationship insecurity outside a lab setting, and the manly men that tower over them with a quietly aggressive, restrained passion and enough elemental attraction to set my hair and heart on fire. Science and love at its best. She knows her characters, subject matter, and how to make STEM so dang sexy and relatable to the hungry romance reader that nothing else will do. I can’t get enough of her books and I’m not even the least bit sorry that I’m not the least bit objective about making her my newest obsession.

“Seriously: why are men?” Come and get me quirky love-shy Bee (28) and intense broody Levi (32) because I’m here for you all the way. Not as much a slow burn as the other books, there are more plentiful smexy times in a romance with an unresolved past and alot of moving parts like spinning plates. Mix a couple of supposed arch-nemeses on a research project with a generous dose of misunderstanding, a bunch of unfair trash-talk, some panty-melting chemistry, and a sprinkle of “You’ve Got Mail” tweets in a beaker and watch it all explode in a confetti-like love-bomb. She the neuroscientist … he the engineer and her sworn arch enemy … and ne’er the twain shall meet in agreement on their past history. As co-leads on a NASA project on Levi’s turf, the collaboration could make or break Bee’s stalled career.

What would Madame Curie do? The famous female scientist is Bee’s idol and she’s the anonymous voice behind a Twitter account @WhatWouldMarieDo where STEM gals air their academic grievances against the male-dominated system, except for one guy that Bee bonds with online. What’s a girl to do – and what would Marie do – as Bee navigates her reunion with fantasy handsome Levi, suspected sabotage against her, mistrust of Levi, and a complete U-turn in their relationship? As usual the author has the most freshly original and beguiling wit that totally ensnares me and never fails to amaze. Levi is a double scoop of yum. His description of the horrors of space for astronauts is the funniest thing ever; while Bee is the most enchanting kind of smart nerd who just can’t seem to get out of her own way. Her charmingly random fainting spells and sensitive aversions had me in stitches. These heroines are booksmart, but not in matters of the heart.

Watch out for some cute cat humor, Bee’s infectious Emo/Goth research assistant Rocio, and her trippy, globetrotting twin sister Reike. Laughs galore. All those belly laughs made my head explode, and even tiny bits tie up so neatly at the end. Everything in the story has a place of importance. The formula of the tiny, quirky femme and the handsome grumpy homme is one that works in all the books. There’s plenty of misunderstanding to straighten out on both sides, lovers’ blindness to the truth, complications from the research, and even sinister sabotage that could derail both their careers. And those face-fanning lovemaking descriptions? … FAR from stereotypical.

5,0 de 5 estrellas So cute and funny!

OBSESSED. After seeing all the hype around The Love Hypothesis I obviously couldn’t resist requesting this and I am SO glad I did because it’s definitely one of my favourite romances ever.

I get that some people will find this annoying rather than adorable, but I am absolutely not that person - I absolutely loved Bee and all her silly little cat puns and her nerdy obsession with all things Marie Curie. Plus as someone who sucks at anything science related I am all about women bossing it in that arena! And then god don’t even get me started on Levi - I wanted to reach into the pages and tear the man mountain’s clothes off myself!! Very grateful for the sprinkling of sexy bits because these two were cute, clever AND hot.

Is it predictable? Of course! But is it also funny, addictive and cute as hell? 100%! I literally couldn’t get enough and might even pick it up again when I need some lightness and joy 🙌
