Having been a Coben fan since many books back, I couldn't wait for this latest one so I pre-ordered. Mistake!! Much of the plot was based on a prior incident never really described. It may have appeared in a previous book but I don't want to have to refer to an earlier book to understand this one.

Meanwhile the plot becomes so convoluted what with haunted houses, the Holocaust, drug dealers
and basketball while all of this is investigated by teenage sleuths. The only thing missing are space aliens. Then there is really no ending. It sort of falls off a cliff. It leaves you with a ton of unanswered questions unless Mr. Coben expects to reveal them in his next Mickey mess which I'm certain to overlook. I think I remember books almost exactly like this in junior high. At any time I was expecting Nancy Drew to
show up.

I give this one star as its only redeeming value is its length. Short! I must admit it is listed as a young people's book. Perhaps 10-12 but not much older than that.
I hope Coben will go back to Myron and forget Mickey until he's out of high school and inherits the business.

Juvenile. Disappointing. I tried to like the first book of this group and gave it another chance by ordering this one but I give up. This is bad. Waste of money. What happened to you? Is this a ghost writer? I would return this but do not want to harm my account

I do not remember this book being advertised for young adults. However, I cannot see this book appealing to any adult of any age! I am also puzzled by the fact this story left several dangling ends even though it is advertised as being the last in a sreies of two. Either the reader is to come to his own conclusions or there has to be another book. I sincerely hope not!!

I really hope that this author will return to writing for grown up people. I have had quite enough of the Bolitars and their somewhat unconventional friends! It would be refreshing to once again read a stand alone thriller by this author! He was one of my favorites.

Coben has been on my absolute favourite author list for years. Entertaining, humorous and well crafted reads.
This one is not. I became apprehensive with the advent of 'Shelter', and now totally put off by this latest.
Messy plot completely lacking in credibility. Language I don't think think even younger teenagers would find other than feeble at best.
I almost couldn't finish working my way through the platitudes. Emotionally immature.
Until Coben's work - hopefully - takes a huge turn for the better, he's off my list.
Sad, really.

What has happened to Harlan Coben? I was so disappointed with his latest work. Spewing out books like "Seconds Away" seems to be the trend for several popular "writers" who are no longer concerned about engaging readers with well-written literature. Quantity rules over quality for them. They hopefully will not continue to be "money-makers" for writers not concerned about readers who don't want to waste their time with books like this one.

I was delighted to find a Harlan Coben that I had not read, to give as a gift to my daughter who loves his books as much as I do. This disjointed terrible book made almost no sense. I worked with his target age group on this one for thirty years, and I can't imagine the boys finding it to be one bit interesting. Very disappointed!

Don't waste your money. I struggled to get through 29% of the book and finally had to quit. The story is terrible. No good transitions, story line weak and just plain hard to read. I have been buying Bolitar books since day one, but not anymore. I'll be sure to read all the reviews first before spending my hard earned money.

First let me say that I had looked forward to a new Harlan Coben release. However, the book has turned out to be really bad. It is disjointed and confusing, referencing events that should have been in the book but weren't. I had to go back to the beginning to see if I missed a chapter or something.

Don't waste your money. The book is just awful!

This is a "Young Reader" book and unless you have broken the Mickey vs Myron Bolitar code you have no way of knowing. Mickey Bolitar character books are written for "Young Readers", the Myron Bolitar series is not. Now I know; wish Amazon would identify Young Readers Group books.
