La vi en clase de Psicología de las Adicciones y me encantó, así que decidí comprármela y al estar en HD se ve con muchísima mejor calidad. Muy buena compra.

La película ya la conozco y es buenísima, pero esta versión está doblada al alemán y no viene en original, que es lo que buscaba. Da la casualidad de que entiendo alemán, pero ni la he visto ni la pienso ver, no es lo que buscaba. Seguramente aparece en la descripción, pero debería estar mejor indicado porque ese detalle no lo ví. Por la película pondría 5 estrellas

"I'd said we'd got a winner!"

"Why you always got to play games with my head?!"

Initially, yes this does seem like it will be a depressing film!

So I presume he's trying to sell the tv.

The credits are playing the depressing music which is well known, (I don't know the name of it). - It has a real sense of urgency to it.

So I presume he keeps taking his mum's tv over to the pawnbrokers.

I've got a feeling this is gonna be a rubbish film!

"I never thought I'd be on television."

Its got to be some sort of trick, surely!

The acting.. poor!

"I got a great diet book!"

The young female lead looks familiar.

"If this is a red, I want to know what's orange?!"

One of them's going to die surely!

What's it with the whole self help vibe from that tv show?!

I hate that music!!

There is a dislike to this film, but I also have a sense of curioristy about it!!

I quite like some of the camera techniques.

If his mum is so concerned about losing weight, why doesn't she go to the gym?!

"I told you ma, one day I'll make it!"

What's she waiting for in the mail?!

So things are looking up.. but I'm sure things will go wrong!

"How come you know more about medicine than a doctor?!"

"I'm somebody now Harry. Everybody likes me."

Harry's upset after meeting his mum.

"I love you Harry, you make me feel like a person."

Maybe this is a low budget film.

The doctor isn't sympathetic!

Obviously they're gonna to destroy their business!!

"This is our last chance to get back on track! - We need the bread."

I just have no interest in this movie.

I've seen this so many times in movies.

I think the actress who plays the mum is the best actress, but her storyline becomes totally ridiculous!

What I do like about this film is its a certain weird genre that you get. They're very hit and miss as a genre.

"Harold! I'm gonna be on television."

Actually I think the film gets better as it goes on, (like I say its a certain genre).

Its actually quite a disturbing film!

Actually is she Liam Neeson's daugther in the film, "Taken?"

When I set this DVD up in my DVD player I thought there had been some kind of mistake. The weird promo at the beginning of the DVD had me thinking I'd been given the wrong DVD or someone had hacked it and put the wrong movie filled with an infomercial. 1-900-976-JUICE was the number. It threw me off. I thought it was real.

Seeing four people destroy themselves thru mindless drugs did not do much for me. In and of themselves these characters are not that interesting. I also find their descent into destruction to be atypical of the average drug user. I've known many drug users and only one of them ended up stealing from their parents and later ending up in rehab. This film shows the worst possible fate that can occur to one in every single situation. Amputation, institutionalization, incarceration and prostitution. I find that unrealistic and a major flaw in the film.

I have decided to remove this from my DVD shelf. While an interesting independent film, I felt it lacked enough understanding and concentrated too much on the graphic nature of addiction. But perhaps that was the whole point. Three and a Half Stars (Rounded Down). Buy it and you may or may not like it. I'm the 1559th person to review this film on Amazon.

Pretty Boys Shouldn't Play Junkies

This is a good film which misses out on being a great one for a couple of reasons - firstly, the casting of Jared Leto as Harry. Although he turns in a competent performance, he looks far too wholesome and healthy to be a junkie (contrast to the skull-like face of Euan McGregor in Trainspotting), no matter how much you drench him in water to pretend he's going cold turkey. To be honest, much the same can be said of co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans. Secondly, the regrettable decision by both writer and director to lay on the `human misery' far too thick at the end. The film is constantly dark and often extremely poignant (witness the scene where Harry phones girlfriend Marion from jail; "Can you come home tonight?" and many of the scenes featuring Ellen Burstyn, who turns in a simply superb performance as Harry's pill-popping mother ("I like thinking about the red dress"). But a subtler and, dare I say, slightly more ambiguous ending would have been far more effective. Alright, no-one expects a film like this to end with the heroes riding off into the sunset, but as I was assailed by the merciless montage of woe at the end, I actually found myself laughing at the over-the-topedness of it all - not what director Darren Anonofsky had in mind, I'm sure. A shame - well worth watching, but not as good as it could have been.

Well, I honestly didn't know what this movie was. I bought the DVD as a blind purchase. I was expecting a horror film from the my limited knowledge from user forums.
My wife and I watched the movie in silence. I think we both pretty much had the same experience. It was mesmorizing and yet had little or no worth as a story.
At the end of it all, its a drug abusers nightmare really. All the cliche problems occur to a set of friends/family all in one large overdose.
Did I like the story? No, not really. Did I like, would I recommend the movie? Yes. I enjoyed it from start to finish and when I look back at why that might be, I come up with this recommendation..
The angles of filming (body cams) and look of this film is superb. The entire "Mother" part of the film is awesome. The acting in general is very convincing.
While I didn't really like the story, that's not what I remember most. I remember the fridge, the clicking jaw, the paranoid eyes and the destroyed arm.
This is one of those few movies, that at the end, I sat and stared at the t.v., watching the credits go by.
When I think about it, I give it 3 stars. I can't put my finger on where the other 2 stars went. Probably deserves at least one more.

Si tratta della trasposizione cinematografica dell’omonimo libro di Hubert Selby Jr, dato alle stampe nel 1978.
Il film è datato 2000 e diretto da Darren Aronofsky.
Il tema è incentrato sulla dipendenza alle droghe.

Fotografia iperdigitale, colori elettrici o onirici, dialoghi telegrafici, scene brevissime e incalzanti - in media 600 per un film di 100 minuti: nel nostro caso sono ben 2000!
I protagonisti, apparentemente middle class, sono in realtà outsider senza futuro e volontà, senza lavoro, vita sociale.
Chiusi in un ristretto cerchio alla perenne ricerca di una dose, proni ad un destino ineluttabile, dopo l’ultimo fallimento si arrendo ad una sorta di meccanica autodistruzione.
L’opera è divisa in tre sezioni, Estate, Autunno e Inverno, volutamente manca la Primavera.
Non ci sarà infatti risveglio o redenzione, ma nichilismo puro, abissale vuoto.

Suggestiva e senza soluzione di continuità la colonna sonora di Clint Mansell interpretata niente di meno che dal Kronos Quartet.

Il DVD che ho ricevuto ha un audio troppo basso, ed è necessario alzare di molto il volume, amplificando un fruscio di sottofondo che infastidisce e vizia la visione.

Ich möchte in dieser Rezension nicht den Film an sich, sondern die Ausstattung des Filmes bewerten.

Es gibt nämlich 2 Aspekte, die meine Freunde an dem Film sehr getrübt haben.
Zum einen gibt es nicht die Möglichkeit, den Film im Originalen Ton (Englisch) zu sehen. Andere Sprachen als Deutsch stehen daher auch nicht zur Auswahl. Des weitern fehlt auch die Möglichkeit den Film mit Untertiteln zu gucken gänzlich.

Ich wollte dies nur zur Information da lassen für Leute wie mich, die Filme lieber im O-Ton gucken und eigentlich davon ausgehen, dass dieser auf einer DVD mit enthalten sein sollte.
