Excellent Cozy Witchy Mystery

Tricked into coming home to a town that is sort of hidden as a place for witches and other supernatural people, by her aunt who told her she was dying; Angelica finds herself thrown into confusion. Her aunts' business, an Inn for visitors, has not been properly managed and the accounting is in terrible shape. In trying to help the Inn, Angelica organizes a fall festival with the other businesses. Before she can get started on these two projects her aunt tries to magically cure a friend and instead, he dies. Her aunt is charged with murder! Now Angelica must save the Inn, get the fall festival going, and find out what really happened when her aunt tried to cure her friend and she must do this all while trying to deal with her job outside the town, her former boyfriend, and her current boyfriend. This is a fun, charming, kind of twisty, feel-good cozy mystery.

I really enjoyed this book! Great characters and intriguing story: which witch killed the witch?? Angelica thought she was done with Silverlake when she left, but her Aunt Thelma's call brought her back home. And then, little by little, she got entangled in the community once again as she helped her aunt get her business straightened out. And then, a murder...! This was a fast-paced, wonderful story and the characters were delightful. Just bought Book #2 "Ferie Check-In" and can't wait to continue the adventures...

A world of witches and wands and eclectic family members and old loves. Coming home always brings the past back but ending up in the middle of a murder investigation is a first. Angelica and the rest of the characters are interesting, just need a little bit more of a description of what each character actually looks like, but otherwise a fast paced story.

I love these witchy cozy mysteries and this one was really good. Never figured out who done it until reading it at the end. And, now that I'm hooked I can't wait till the next book.

She left Silverlake and left her wand behind-intent on making it in the city on her own. And she did! Then came the phone call telling her that there was a family emergency--with trepidation--she went back--but with the thought that she would return to the normal world in a few days time. Silverlake was not your normal town--you needed a password to actually enter it and see it!

Her Aunt's business was in shambles and she had to straighten out and fix it up and maybe bring it into the modern world. The town itself needed help also--but then her Aunt's wand appeared to kill someone! Now everyone knew that her Aunt would not do something like that and she hired a lawyer to try and defend her. As luck would have it this guy was the reason she had left Silverlake to begin with.

She finally decided that just maybe picking up her wand again might be the most sensible. She also picked up an amulet left by her Mom--which saved her ultimately. She continued trying to find the real person who committed murder--

There is a happy ending where she finally realizes Silverlake is where she belongs after all!!

A few moments were sluggish, others were predictable, and others seemed out of place, but overall, the book wasn't a bad read. It was a short read after reading several books that were longer and more complex.

My only real complaint is the ending. What about the festival? Angie and Allen? Angie and Vance?

Angelica fled her paranormal town of Silverlake leaving her past behind her after a bad breakup with her high school sweetheart boyfriend. Leaving her witch background behind, she moves to Chicago and works in a high profile job, making a name for herself and not looking back. But when she gets and emergency phone call from her Aunt's best friend summoning her back, she believes her Aunt is dying and takes a short leave to see what is going on and how her aunt is. She is leaving her boyfriend, a human non-paranormal home and tells him he'll see her soon, she is just going to check out the situation. Finding her Aunt fine but the Inn she runs is in dire need of repair as well as the town shops being so slow because no one is coming to the town, she says she will help but only until she has to go back to Chicago. Using her incredible marketing talents, she devises a plan for the town to have a Fall Festival to entice tourists and visitors to the town. She also is trying to decipher her Aunt's bills and ledgers that hadn't been touched in years. Her aunt calls a town meeting and they are all in favor, except one crotchety store owner who wants things to happen immediately and the poor guy is suffering from a bad cold. Angelica's Aunt decides to hit him with a spell to make him feel better using his own wand, but then he drops dead! With so many twists and turns and Angelica jumping in with her Aunt's friends to try and solve the crime to clear her Aunts name and her EX she ran away from becomes her Aunt's lawyer there is so much flow to this story and so many red-herrings. Wow what a roller coaster ride we are taken on in this first book in a new series that will make you want more! You just can't put this book down once you start! I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own

Angelica, who works in a big city hotel, has a witchy background. Her aunt tricks her back to her roots at Mystic Inn in a town full of witches.

When Angie arrives home, life is not what she expected. Aunt Thelma is alive; the Inn is in disarray; within a few days, her aunt kills by using a wand, or does she?

Yes, this storyline is funny but severe to the witches involved. Auntie is arrested, and Angie becomes a witchy sleuth. She turns the town upside down, upsetting many witches with a hilarious twist.

This first book, in a series, has all the ingredients - characters, location, and wide-open areas to develop new mysteries.

Therefore, I recommend buying this series if you like fun with witches.
